Fruits are important to the human body—especially for active runners.They provide the vitamins, antioxidants and minerals your body needs. They also boost your energy, improve your performance and speed and help avoid injuries. But exactly what fruits are ideal for runners and non-runners alike?


Potassium in bananas helps strengthen your bones and muscles. Bananas also contain magnesium which may help regulate your muscle and nerve functions, immune responses and metabolism.


Runners need vitamin C as it helps repair body tissues faster. So if you have enough vitamin C in your body, you can avoid muscle cramps and soreness even after a long jog.


Running and avocados are a match made in heaven—we’re not kidding. Both are effective for burning fat, improving heart health and building lean muscles. Avocados also contain phytonutrients which are good for insulin sensitivity and reducing inflammation. 


Blueberries have high-water content which may help you avoid dehydration. Dare we say, it’s the best pre-run snack as it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that not only help with muscle repair, but also prevent fatal diseases such cancer, dementia and Alzheimer’s.
