What’s so special about plants? Scientifically speaking, plants help ward off viruses. They also give our immune system a boost by filtering the air we breathe.
I did some research on ideal places to grow a plant and I didn’t expect to see the bathroom as one of the options. Apparently, growing a shower plant has a lot of benefits.
Improve air quality
Snake plants thrive in low-light areas and help filter the air.
I love taking hot showers. But the humidity can get the best of me. Good thing growing a plant in the bathroom can help regulate humidity and moisture levels. This means we don’t have to worry about unnecessary steam and condensation after every bath if we have at least one shower plant.
Science also says it is great therapy for people with allergies and other respiratory conditions.
I admit, I was hesitant about taking care of a plant before because I have plant commitment issues. I don’t trust myself around them and I don’t want them to die due to my black thumb, you know? But shower plants are considered low-maintenance. In fact, most of them don’t necessarily need sunlight or water on a daily basis. They will thrive just by absorbing the room’s humidity.
Dare I say, shower plants are perfect for aspiring plant parents who have the attention span of a goldfish.
Boost mental health
Most of us usually go straight to the bathroom the moment we wake up. So if we have shower plants, they can help increase our energy first thing in the morning, stabilize our mood and help keep our emotions at bay throughout the day.
According to research, interacting with indoor plants can “reduce physiological and psychological stress.” Showering in itself is already calming. Now imagine being surrounded by plants while showering. Oh, peace of mind is within reach.
