People might think it’s silly to put on makeup when you’re wearing a mask and face shield outside. But that definitely hasn’t stopped makeup lovers—myself, included. (Oh, and don’t forget that skincare is important, too.)
The main challenge of wearing makeup, especially foundation and lipstick, while in protective gear is that it could transfer on your mask. So, it’s a matter of figuring out how to prevent this, as well as ways to enhance your look.
Graphic eye looks
Think Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s looks when they performed “Rain On Me” at the 2020 MTV VMAs. They paired their face masks with graphic liner and some glitter. If you’re not keen on doing a full glam under your mask and face shield, then an eye look is the way to go. You can do something minimal (i.e. one eyeshadow shade and mascara) or do something #extra with colorful liners.
Blush and fake freckles

Give yourself a natural-looking flush and draw on some subtle freckles over your nose and cheeks. This is a great 10-minute makeup trick for when you’re rushing to leave.
Choosing the right lip product
Believe it or not, there are people who still wear lipstick under their masks. The best way is to use transfer-proof matte lipstick. You can also use a moisturizing lip tint so it’s more lightweight and won’t stain your mask.
Set with powder and setting spray
Okay, I know a lot of people don’t like doing full glam these days. But if you really want to, the best way to keep your base intact while wearing a mask is to use a matte foundation and set everything with powder and setting spray. This is the same tip beauty vloggers use, so you know it works.
