It’s true: Mothers know best.

Growing up, our Moms started teaching us the do’s and don’ts of the real world. It’s tiring to hear at times but we owe them big time for who we are today. Let’s take a refresher course on these Mom-approved life skills!

1. Cooking for the family

When Mom takes over the kitchen, expect a feast coming up for the whole family. Home tastes like your Mom’s cooking. The next time you see Mom in the kitchen, help her out even if you’re the clumsiest person at home. Let Mom teach you the tricks from finding a marketplace that sells the freshest meat, learning the basics of cooking an egg (Sunny side up or scrambled? Excel in both!) to going a la Master Chef once you’ve prepared a full meal she can be proud of this Mother’s Day. Your peg: that Barrio Fiesta combo meal with Mom’s seafood and pork cravings!

2. Observing proper hygiene

Before Mom sends you out to the world, she doesn’t want you to leave home looking and smelling like it’s the apocalypse. Clean up and be selective of your bathroom essentials. Dandruff problems? Mom recommends the L’Occitane Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. It’s silicone-free which saves you from having a dry scalp. You’ll also get the revitalizing wonders of five essential oils (mint, thyme, grapefruit, cedar and lavender) along with special ingredients that reduce the flaking and calm the itching.

Also, consider ditching a normal soap for a Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub. The combination of sea salt and fresh lemon juice are good for the skin with the former gently exfoliating dead skin cells and the latter brightening your complexion. Then you’ll come out of the shower with the floral scent of mimosa. It’s so pleasant, you give off the impression of having your life together.

3. Saving up

Do you love shopping so much? It’s probably getting harder to resist any sign that says ‘SALE’. But Mom wants you to think twice at any price. While impulse buying sounds fun at times, you still have grown-up things to do. Check out the BDO Easy Investment Plan so your savings can go a long way. It’s a calculated risk and the rewards will make you and your Mama proud.
