Missing the panaderya? These will take you back

The smell of freshly baked bread will always have a special place in my heart

If there’s one thing I miss about my daily commute in the outside world, it’s the sweet smell from the bakeries I encounter on the way to work. Freshly baked pastries are amazing and nothing compares to breaking into a piece of freshly-baked bread.

But that doesn’t mean I’m opting out of the pastries that remind me of those daily walks. All I’m really thinking of when I buy these baked goods is “take me back.”

Raisin Bread

I admit, I wasn’t a big fan of raisin bread. Key word being was, as in past tense. Now that I got a taste of it (thank the heavens my mom forced me), I realized I’ve been eating boring plain bread my whole life. The raisins give my buttery fluff of carbs an extra sweet and tangy flavor to it. ISTG, you’re missing a lot if you don’t take a bite of it at least once in your life. I actually have a weird obsession with it by now. They’re that good.

Monggo Rolls

Rolls pack in so much filling it’s like a whole meal for busy people. Considering everyone’s multitasking from home, it makes sense. These Monggo Rolls from Clyde’s Bread and Pastries have just the right kind of sweet without being overpowering, so you can eat as many as you want and not just after a heavy meal but around the clock too. It’s also great for sharing—because who knows when you can go out and buy a box or two again?

Ube Cheese Pandesal

Would any bakery be complete without the unbeatable pandesal? This versatile pastry can be literally anything. Partner it with coffee? Breakfast. With orange juice? Merienda. It can also be enjoyed plain (honestly its best form) when freshly baked. Pandesal goes with anything and everything so it’s no wonder that it’s a staple of any bakery. The French Baker made the pandesal experience even better by making it ube-flavored and filling it with everyone’s fave: cheese.
