Filipino BLINKs, here’s some good news for you: Global K-pop stars BLACKPINK recently joined Globe as brand ambassadors. That means there are a lot of surprises in store for local BLACKPINK fans.
Globe’s partnership with the girl group was announced at yesterday’s Wonderful World of Globe showcase. Globe’s president and CEO, Ernest Cu, says that despite the difficult challenges we all encountered this year, the company still hopes to provide customers with enjoyable everyday experiences.
“Having BLACKPINK join the Globe family is proof that we won’t stop bringing the world into our customers’ homes. BLACKPINK being one of the world’s biggest groups has a huge following in the country. We want to bring our customers nothing less than the best in entertainment,” Cu says.
BLACKPINK really has been the best in entertainment this year. The group released their first full album “The Album” in October which featured self-composed and self-produced songs, as well as collaborations with music household names Selena Gomez and Cardi B. Aside from multiple wins in Korean music shows, “The Album” and its title track “Lovesick Girls” still continue to top international charts.
There are talks of an online concert happening soon, if you’ve been active on your stan accounts, but BLACKPINK’s partnership with Globe might just give us a lot more than that (an online meet and greet would send a lot of us BLINKs over the moon). While waiting for those surprises, we’ll be streaming the group’s record-breaking YouTube videos and maybe even re-watch and cry over the tear-jerking scenes in the Netflix documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky.”
