Career wo-Mom Sarah Lahbati stays true to herself
Much has been said about career women and working moms – how they balance busy schedules, spend quality time with their families, set priorities, and even the would’s and should’s of being both.
At the young age of 22, actress Sarah Lahbati found herself both with a budding career in showbiz and a baby boy. Sarah admits that she didn’t expect having a family at this age, but she says being in the industry helped her mature very early. Motherhood helped her realize what really matters in life – family and turning her dreams into reality.
Sarah finds her own balance in bringing up Zion and growing her acting career. She is a mainstay on Sunday variety show ASAP, and she takes on various roles on different drama shows to further hone her craft and showcase the many dimensions of her talent. As a 22-year-old, Sarah knows she still has a lot of growing up to do and knows the value of improving oneself. During her free time, she takes dance classes and goes to the gym to work on her physique and fitness. She stresses, “when I wake up in the morning, I’m always thinking of ways to improve myself.”
Sarah is also one of the top celebrities online with 1.8 million followers on Instagram. She loves connecting with her fans on social media and uses these platforms to engage with them and to thank them for all their love and support. On the flip side, she admits to getting negative comments on her account, with some telling her to stop acting or saying things the way she does because she’s already a mother. She says, “but just because I’m a parent doesn’t mean I have to stop loving things that inspire me, or stop posting things other 22-year-olds post. Sometimes, people forget I’m still young.”
Like any young person, Sarah loves going out. Her top spots at SM include Ronnie and Joe where she gets her quirky sunglasses, Paul Patisserie for the Pain au chocolat and tuna salad, and surprisingly, Timezone! Sarah reminisces about her childhood at Timezone where her mom would always take her and even reward her with ice cream after.
In the tough world of showbiz where not only an actor’s or an actress’ talent but also where his or her personal life is scrutinized, Sarah continues to pave her own way. She always has self-improvement as her goal, and she doesn’t stop getting better at what she does and what she envisions. She says, “We have to stop labelling every single thing and putting people in boxes. As long as we stay true to ourselves and not disrespecting anyone, we’re good.”
